To be honest, any celebrity who sells gifts given to them for money would typically lose popularity. However, in Jeanne’s case, she didn’t receive much criticism for selling those gifts for charity.
This was mainly because of Jeanne’s identity and background story, which made everyone instinctively feel that this was what she should do. As a result, her reputation wasn’t negatively affected.
Of course, the fact that Jeanne donated all the money and didn’t keep a single penny for herself was also crucial. People tend to admire selfless donors and are more willing to believe that they are noble.
Because of this action, many people wanted to interview Jeanne. However, Jeanne politely declined, citing the need to work with Liang En on sorting through previous archaeological results and writing papers as her reason.
In a way, Jeanne wasn’t lying. The previous papers were indeed structured by Liang En, who provided an overall framework, which she then refined and wrote out.
These papers mainly focused on the previous excavation of Troy. Liang En turned some of the topics people were interested in into papers, which were then completed by Jeanne.
The reason for writing papers at this time was partly due to the timing. After all, everyone’s attention was currently focused on this subject, so the papers would gain some additional traction.
Another reason was to prove that they were genuinely busy with writing papers during this period, thus avoiding others from discovering their secret activities.
Over the next few days, Liang En began adjusting the previous time-space gate with all his might. Although it appeared to be maintenance, it was essentially no different from a small-scale remanufacturing of the time-space gate.
This was mainly because, during the actual operation, Liang En discovered the real problem with this time-space gate, originally designed for one-time use. Naturally, he needed to carry out a comprehensive overhaul targeting this issue.
That said, since this overhaul involved some core issues of the entire space gate, the entire project naturally turned into a large-scale renovation, including the partial re-creation of the core.
Of course, reaching the level of core renovation meant that the complexity of the entire project was no less than remanufacturing it from scratch. For this reason, by the time they returned to the cave, three days had already passed.
This speed was much faster than what an ordinary Transcendent would take because, with the aid of the Transcendent Skill Cards, Liang En had already surpassed most top-tier alchemists in terms of crafting items.
Nevertheless, Liang En successfully completed the construction of the space gate and returned to the previous cave, where he once again installed and activated the space gate.
This time, the space gate was noticeably better than before. Although no difference could be seen from the outside, Liang En, with one hand pressed against the gemstone on the space gate, quickly sensed that the gate’s condition was much better than the last time.
At the very least, the rapid wear and tear that occurred after activation last time didn’t happen again, indicating that Liang En’s renovation was entirely correct.
After repeatedly checking and confirming that everything was in order, Liang En immediately began the next step: He quickly pressed a few gemstones on the door frame and infused them with Transcendent power.
Once the Transcendent power was infused, a component installed in the groove above the gate slowly floated up. It was a structure resembling an armillary sphere.
The core of this structure was a small golden orb inlaid with gemstones, surrounded by three constantly rotating silver metal rings, one nested inside the other, adorned with gemstones and golden runes.
“Is this the thing you added?” Jeanne asked as she looked at the coconut-sized metal structure floating above the door frame. “I remember you said you improved this gate.”
“Yes, this is an original piece of equipment I designed,” Liang En said, looking at the metal structure on the gate. “This thing incorporates divination abilities and can be used to detect and locate other worlds.”
Breaking through the spatial barrier is one thing, but connecting to another world is another matter entirely. The most crucial point in the latter task is locating the other worlds.
Fortunately, the Transcendent power Liang En possessed included divination abilities. So, he used these as the core driving force to locate the positions of other worlds.
However, such location detection naturally takes time. After more than an hour with no activity, Liang En simply used Transcendent power to completely seal off the cave entrance and then teleported back home with Jeanne.
“Is it okay for us not to stay there and monitor it?” Jeanne asked curiously after they got home. “Doesn’t this operation require someone to keep an eye on it?”
“Don’t worry. I designed that thing to run automatically. Just replace the gemstones storing the Transcendent power every three days, and that’s enough,” Liang En said, waving his hand as he sat down on the sofa.
“Finding the right world in the vast space ocean is incredibly difficult. If we searched manually, who knows how long it would take. So, I automated the process to save time.”
What Liang En didn’t know was that his technology had already surpassed most worlds with Transcendent power in this area. In most worlds with such technology, the search is a very challenging task.
For the inhabitants of those worlds, whether they rely on individuals with this type of Transcendent power or use alchemical tools, the search systems are always separate from the main time-space gate.
It’s not that these people don’t want to combine these two things, but for most other worlds, their technology isn’t advanced enough to accomplish this complex task.
However, Liang En’s Transcendent inheritance clearly came from a more advanced world. So, with the optimization of that inheritance, he overcame the challenges and completed this modification.
This improvement naturally had significant benefits, such as allowing Liang En to control it remotely from home rather than waiting in the cold cave.
Of course, Liang En could remotely control it because this was a world without Transcendent power, so the background environment had minimal Transcendent fluctuations. Thus, he could achieve remote control with just a little bit of Transcendent power.
The search took a full three days. When the gemstones infused with Transcendent power were about to be exhausted, they finally received a signal indicating a world that met their criteria.
“At last, we found it.” Hearing that Liang En had located the target, Jeanne excitedly put down the book she was reading and said, “Can you take me to see it this time? I’m very curious about what another world is like.”
“Of course. Besides you, I’ve also notified Marie and Elizabeth,” Liang En replied with a smile. “However, they said that since it’s their first time encountering another world, they won’t be attending in person for safety reasons.”
“But they suggested we bring a recording system because they believe this might be humanity’s first contact with another world, which is worth documenting.”
“The other reason is that, although they can’t come, they still want to know what happens, so they hope we can satisfy their curiosity.”
