The discovery of the Great Bath at the Mohenjo-Daro ruins signaled the conclusion of this excavation project for Liang En. He could now hand over the remaining tasks to others and prepare to return home. This was mainly because Christmas was approaching, and although Liang En wasn't particularly fond of the holiday, certain events were unavoidable due to his current status.
Jeanne d'Arc was in a similar situation. Unlike the destitute nobility she once belonged to, the Duris family was now considered a wealthy family. Consequently, after becoming a noble, they were quickly accepted by the British upper class. However, this acceptance was only the beginning. A great deal of time and effort was required to establish and maintain their position, which meant that Jeanne, as the family heir, had numerous social gatherings to attend.
After completing the first phase of the excavation, Liang En and his team handed over their responsibilities to the scholars present and left the site.
"Did you gain anything significant this time?" Jeanne asked quietly as they sat on the plane returning home. She was curious about the cards Liang En had obtained.
"Of course, I gained many important things, and overall, I'm very satisfied with the harvest," Liang En replied, raising his eyebrows slightly. Indeed, the cards he acquired this time were quite impressive.
Mohenjo-Daro was a core site of ancient Indian civilization, so the cards obtained from this location were far superior to those from other places. This time, he managed to acquire a total of ten cards in one go.
Among these ten cards, eight were common consumable cards, but compared to the cards he had obtained before, these consumable cards were much more valuable.
This time, the consumable cards included one [Appraisal (N)], three [Detection (N)], three [Power of Legend (N)], and one [Appraisal (R)], which could be considered a significant harvest.
As for the other two cards, they were truly exceptional. Even with Liang En's current level, he couldn't help but feel a bit excited after seeing the content of these cards.
Both cards were related to India and could be considered part of India's traditional culture, representing the essence of ancient Indian civilization.
[Ayurveda (SR): India is a vast and ancient multi-ethnic country with a long history, so its traditional medicine includes various systems such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Yoga.
Among these medical systems, Ayurveda is the collective term for India's traditional medicine, which still plays a crucial role in healthcare in Southeast Asian countries today.
Ayurveda is composed of two words: "Ayur," meaning life, and "Veda," meaning knowledge or science. Therefore, Ayurveda is regarded by Indians as a medical system that respects the science of life.
Ayurveda is considered one of the oldest medical systems in the world. For over five thousand years, it has been used in countless traditional Indian households.
Interestingly, this system has always emphasized the importance of diet and spirituality, much like Chinese traditional medicine and the medical methods of Hippocrates, the "Father of Modern Medicine."
This medical theory posits that all things in the world, including humans, are composed of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space (atmosphere). The human body is further composed of seven basic tissues and three humors.
Similar to traditional Chinese medicine, this medical system believes that the human body has three main channels: the central channel, the left channel, and the right channel, which then form seven chakras and 12,000 nadis (energy pathways).
Diagnosis focuses on the characteristics of the person, rather than the characteristics of the disease. Factors such as the patient's age, living environment, and cultural background are all considered.
Through understanding these factors, doctors resolve problems by adjusting the patient's diet, using balanced diets, herbal and animal therapies, enemas, using cow dung and urine, bloodletting with leeches, as well as chants and various other incredible methods to regulate the body.
Although some aspects of this system may be outdated, overall, it remains highly valuable and can be seen as a crystallization of ancient Indian civilization.
Enhancement Card (One-time use): After using this card, the user will gain all the knowledge of traditional Indian medicine, specifically Ayurveda. This knowledge is limited to theoretical understanding and does not involve any physical enhancement.]
"Looks like I can pretend to be an old Indian doctor to swindle money when I get old. However, using this knowledge to treat non-Indians might require some adjustments," Liang En joked after using the card and reviewing its contents.
This was mainly because the medical system was heavily influenced by Hinduism, which made some aspects less friendly to non-believers. For example, several prescriptions required the use of cow urine and cow dung.
Fortunately, not all prescriptions were like that. At least most of them involved the use of essential oils, herbs, milk, or cheese, which were more acceptable to the majority of people.
In particular, this traditional medicine was quite effective in treating some chronic and stubborn diseases, and its spiritual soothing effects were superior to those of modern medicine.
However, compared to the other card, this one seemed less remarkable, as the other card brought something even more significant—India's national treasure: Yoga.
[Yoga Master (SR): Most people think of twisting their bodies into pretzel-like shapes when they hear the word "yoga," but in reality, yoga is much deeper than that.
Yoga is actually one of the six major schools of philosophy in ancient India, exploring the principles and methods of "union of the individual self with the universal self." The yoga that modern people refer to, and that is commonly seen, primarily consists of various methods for physical and mental cultivation.
Around 300 BCE, the great sage and the father of yoga, Patanjali, authored the "Yoga Sutras," which formed the basis of what is now known as Indian yoga.
Yoga practice was officially established as a complete eight-limbed system. Yoga is a system that helps individuals realize their full potential by raising consciousness.
Yoga postures employ ancient and easy-to-master techniques to improve people's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual abilities. It is a way of achieving harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.
Enhancement Card (One-time use): By consuming this card, the user will gain the knowledge equivalent to that of a Yoga Master. Simultaneously, the connection between their soul and body will become more intimate, greatly enhancing their physical flexibility and balance.]
"A very nice harvest indeed," Liang En said, feeling quite satisfied with this card. Compared to the previous card, this one gave him a much-needed boost.
In particular, Liang En was more focused on the aspect of the card that enhanced the connection between his body and soul. He realized that his extraordinary abilities were more akin to those of legendary spellcasters, so any enhancement related to the soul was invaluable.
Unfortunately, such opportunities were extremely rare, so obtaining this card during his trip to India was a delightful surprise.
"I must say, the soul is one of the most complex aspects, even in the realm of the extraordinary, which is why strengthening it is so difficult," Liang En sighed as the plane was about to land in London.
"Fortunately, there are some alchemical traditions that include substances capable of enhancing the soul. Unfortunately, I'm still short on various raw materials, and my current strength is insufficient. It will take at least two or three more years before I can produce the necessary potions."
