Chapter 486: Cards and Development

As he drove toward Romania, Liang En began examining the cards he had acquired earlier. Due to the nature of the information he had gathered, it was no surprise that two of the new cards he obtained were the Appraisal (N) and Power of Legend (N), both related to the legendary supernatural powers.

The other two cards were a skill card and an enhancement card, but they seemed somewhat inferior compared to the previous ones, likely due to the limited time these items had been known, leading to a lower card level.

European Witchcraft and Religion (R): It is quite normal for humans to seek supernatural assistance to survive during their primitive stages, moving toward civilization.

Europe was no exception, where superstition and witchcraft have persisted to this day. By studying these documents, one can understand the changes in civilization and customs of this land.

An enhancement card (one-time use), by consuming this card, one can master the witchcraft and folklore knowledge related to the data collected by Heydrich. Note, this is purely knowledge, not mastery over supernatural powers.

"This fits perfectly with the Arcane Compilation (R) card. I could write a book comparing Eastern and Western witchcraft," thought Liang En from the passenger seat after assimilating the information.

For him, this was indeed a meaningful task, especially after having moved so many books, he felt it was time to write a book of his own.

For the current Liang En, the task might be tedious but not very difficult, as he had honed his writing skills over the years by adapting books from another world.

"With a little time set aside each day for writing, I might be able to finish these in a few months," Liang En contemplated, leaning back in his seat. Then, focusing his attention on another card, "Let's set this aside for now and see how the other card fares."

Pseudo-Believer (SR): In the medieval era, the whole of Europe was devoutly Christian. Anyone not adhering to the faith could easily be accused of being a sinister witch or wizard.

Thus, for those living in medieval Europe, faith was not as free as it is now. To survive that era in Europe, one had to possess, or at least appear to possess, sincere devotion.

A skill card (permanent) (active), by spending a point of Legendary Power daily, one can maintain an all-day disguise, making others believe the card user is a devout Catholic.

"Ugh—this card seems somewhat useless," Liang En frowned after reviewing the card's purpose. It had lost its necessity since it was no longer the medieval period.

Of course, this didn't mean the card was entirely useless; if one were to visit some rural areas in Europe, such a disguise would make it easier to obtain what one needed and blend into the local environment.

Aside from inspecting these cards, the next few hours proved rather dull, as riding a large truck on a long journey wasn't particularly enjoyable.

Fortunately, the distance from Prague to their destination wasn't too far, and the roads along the way were well-maintained, allowing them to reach their destination in good spirits.

Upon arriving at the foot of Braun Castle in Braun Town, Liang En noticed that the number of tourists had significantly increased compared to his previous visit, likely due to the recent publication of a novel about Dracula.

Although the increase in daily tourists was only about twenty or thirty, given that the original number rarely exceeded a hundred, this increase was quite noticeable.

"Yes, thank you very much for your help; there indeed have been many more visitors lately," the mayor confirmed after meeting him, appearing as though he thoroughly agreed with the situation.

"This is probably due to the popularity of the novel you wrote before. I've read it carefully myself and truly believe this is just the beginning; the number of visitors is likely to multiply in the future."

"I hope so, as it would be beneficial for everyone if this place could develop," nodded Liang En. "But I'm a bit worried whether the town's services can keep up with its growth—"

Liang En's concern was simple; he had seen in another world how tourism spots could leave a very bad impression on travelers due to deceitful local vendors.

"Don't worry, we've already organized and set up a series of rules. Those selling counterfeit products or providing substandard services will be expelled from the town market," the mayor assured him, well aware of Liang En's concerns. The townspeople, having been impoverished for many years and suddenly presented with an opportunity for development, naturally did not want to fail in this regard.

Unlike another world, this castle and town were previously not very famous due to the lack of that crucial novel, so tourism had not developed much.

Although this meant that the town's facilities were lacking and people had little experience in accommodating more tourists, it did not have the ingrained problems of another world.

In other words, they were now starting from scratch. While the initial setup might be more complex and require more effort, the solid foundation laid was beneficial for future development.

Although the town and the castle were two separate entities, their connection was very close, and Liang En also had numerous properties in the town.

So from any perspective, he wished for the overall improvement of the town, as it would not only enhance the overall environment but also promote integrated economic growth.

"If that's the case, great. As far as I know, my book's sales are climbing steadily, and some film companies are interested in acquiring the adaptation rights. If everything goes well, I believe there will be a significant change in the overall situation within the next two to three years."

Compared to other books, "Dracula" was undoubtedly the most adaptable in the short term, especially since Liang En had incorporated elements from the film "Shock for 400 Years" into it, making it even more suitable for adaptation.

Indeed, the film companies had also noticed this, so while a few small companies gambled on discussions about adapting "Grimm's Fairy Tales," the main negotiations for adaptations focused on "Polar Evil" and "Dracula."

Based on the progress of these negotiations, "Dracula" was likely to be adapted into a film soon, prompting Liang En to anticipate a rapid development period for the area.
