The emergence of this new [Heroic Age (UR)] card is of immense value to Liang En, as it significantly increases his chances and strength when using extraordinary power. For example, he has mastered alchemy, but most of the items cannot be produced because the materials required are extraordinary substances that don't exist in reality, having been conjured up by people's imaginations.
Although, in theory, ordinary items can replace these extraordinary ones, in practice, using ordinary items often results in subpar or even counterproductive effects.
One simple example is the requirement of a type of mandrake that looks like a human, cries, and even runs around for several alchemical potions.
Of course, this could be substituted with a mandrake that exists in reality, but the effect would be far inferior. At least from Liang En's observations, these potions are complicated to make, expensive, and sometimes even less effective than ordinary medicines.
After all, the effective ingredients in these alchemical potions mainly come from extraordinary power, but the extraordinary power infused during production obviously cannot fully replace the role of the original extraordinary materials.
Therefore, at that time, he could only make items that relied mainly on ordinary substances upgraded with extraordinary power and some things that had no modern equivalents.
For instance, he once made a type of sword oil that could increase the sharpness of any bladed object, which clearly belonged to the category of items with no substitutes. So, even though the quality was far from the description, it was still incredibly magical.
However, these items were only half-finished products, which left him a bit regretful. Fortunately, the situation has now changed—the new card can provide this change.
"—The method to prepare a unicorn horn." Liang En looked at the dense list in his mind, randomly selected a somewhat familiar entry, began to examine it, and read it out loud.
"A complete set of horse bones, including a total of ten tons, with 100 Legend Points input over seven days, can be converted into a unicorn horn that fully meets the legendary description."
"Sounds quite impressive." Jeanne, who was listening to Liang En's introduction of the card, nodded in satisfaction. "This skill, in my opinion, is almost like a miracle because it not only changes the item but also alters the very nature of the material."
This is different from turning an iron sheet into a nail or even a cow into a sheep. The barriers to transforming ordinary items into extraordinary ones are far greater, so in Jeanne's view, this is undoubtedly one of Liang En's most powerful skills.
"You're right, but it's a pity that only we can use it," Liang En said somewhat dejectedly. "For example, a unicorn horn made into a cup can purify the liquid inside, and ground into powder, it can detoxify—but it only works for us—"
"But isn't that a good thing?" Jeanne quickly responded. "After all, this is an ordinary world, but a very powerful one. You can't possibly fight the world alone."
"So, the current situation is naturally the best one, allowing us to conceal our extraordinary abilities without attracting unfriendly attention while still enjoying the benefits of the extraordinary."
"You're right, I was just sighing a bit." After listening to Jeanne's chatter, Liang En smiled and then introduced the other two cards he had obtained.
These two cards were clearly less appealing to Jeanne than the previous ones. Compared to the previous [Heroic Age (UR)], these two cards could only be considered average at best.
If the [Walls of Troy (SSR)] defense card could somewhat compensate for Liang En's lack of defensive power, the [Divine Archer (SR)] card could only be seen as a slight enhancement.
After all, a significant portion of Liang En's skills are combat-related, so he is not lacking in offensive means. In fact, he even has an excess of attack abilities.
"Now we just have to wait for the Thule Society to make a move. I have a feeling that their action is about to begin," Liang En said after introducing the cards. "And my skills might come in handy."
"You're right," Jeanne nodded. "As we get closer to officially revealing our discoveries, the time window for the Thule Society is getting smaller, so their next move can only happen at specific times."
The only important time point recently is the press conference in five days, during which the President of Turkey will also attend and deliver a speech. Therefore, if the Thule Society were to take action, it could only be during this time.
However, the more specific point of attack depends on the situation. But neither Liang En nor anyone from the Golden Dawn believes that the Thule Society would target the President of Turkey. Such a move would lead to unpredictable consequences.
Moreover, no one believes the Thule Society could succeed, even if they inherited part of the legacy of Nazi Germany. They couldn't possibly break through the defenses.
Therefore, they are unlikely to target the President of Turkey, but if they were to act elsewhere, it would be hard to pinpoint their exact target.
This is mainly because a presidential visit mobilizes so many different parts that even the Golden Dawn cannot monitor them all. Especially since they cannot engage in real-time tracking to avoid misunderstandings.
"So, for us, apart from conducting as much reconnaissance as possible, the most important thing is to prepare contingency plans to avoid being caught off guard if something does happen," Liang En concluded.
To be honest, Liang En doesn't have high hopes for being fully prepared in advance because there are just too many places the Thule Society could strike, and he can't possibly cover all the potential gaps.
But sometimes luck is a funny thing. Just when Liang En had completely given up on blocking the enemy in advance and was ready to improvise, the ravens that had been monitoring several key locations finally caught some traces of the Thule Society.
It was three days before the President's visit. Liang En was up late because he needed to revise the report he would be presenting later, so just as he finished the draft and was about to rest, he suddenly received a message from the ravens.
It's undeniable that ravens are much more reliable than drones. At least, current AI, which is little more than an artificial idiot, cannot perform delicate operations like accurately identifying targets.
Through the eyes of the ravens, Liang En could see two suspicious individuals who had already scaled the outer wall of their warehouse and were stealthily moving toward the entrance—clearly not good people.
"It seems the Thule Society couldn't hold back any longer." Seeing the attackers, Liang En finally breathed a sigh of relief because he had finally pinpointed the hidden enemy and knew what to do next.
Just like how a nuclear missile is most intimidating when it's on the launch pad, an enemy is most threatening when hidden. But when they start to show themselves, it's often the beginning of the end of the war.
