Chapter 951: Clues

After switching transportation several times, Liang En and his team entered the old city of Karachi. Compared to the modernized new city, the surroundings suddenly became much dirtier and more chaotic.

For example, the buildings here were clearly makeshift constructions compared to those in the modern district. Many of them looked like they could collapse at any moment, obviously lacking any safety certification.

In addition, the open sewage caused by the lack of drainage systems and the dense web of privately installed wires overhead all indicated the chaos of this area.

The people on the streets were also different. Unlike the more Westernized, stylish individuals in the new city, the people here dressed in a much more traditional manner.

Fortunately, Liang En and his team had disguised themselves beforehand, allowing them to blend in safely with their surroundings.

Interestingly, there were more women on the streets here than in other places, so Jeanne's presence didn't stand out.

Survival is paramount, after all. Many rules or traditions crumble in the face of survival needs. In this region, poverty forces everyone to work to the best of their ability just to survive.

Interestingly, this place still had schools, supermarkets, bus routes, and even cafes and hospitals, but the police presence was pitifully scarce. Unless a major criminal incident occurred, the police wouldn't enter this area.

Even when the police did enter, it was mostly to collect bodies. They would enter fully armed, quickly retreating afterward without staying long.

However, the entire area had developed an internal cycle with its own set of rules, so it wasn’t as terrible as one might imagine.

From another perspective, this place was an ideal hiding spot for private intelligence dealers: abundant information sources, easy concealment, and a surprisingly high level of safety.

Following the information they had obtained earlier, they soon arrived at a small courtyard after navigating the narrow, chaotic streets. Then, following a specific rhythm, they knocked on the courtyard door.

The owner of the small courtyard was an old man in his sixties. When he opened the door, a plump orange cat even followed at his feet. Behind him, one could see that the courtyard surprisingly housed a well-maintained small garden.

"Alright, I believe we've already discussed why we're here." After verifying their identities, Liang En, sitting in the living room, got straight to the point, speaking fluently in Urdu. "Please tell me the clues you have."

"You Chinese are always in such a hurry," the intelligence dealer, named Black Cat, sighed, pulling an envelope from under the table and handing it to Liang En.

"You came at the right time. I just received and confirmed this information this morning. Of course, I can only vouch for the information I'm giving you; I can't verify anything beyond that."

"Understood." Liang En took the envelope and nodded. This intelligence dealer was known for guaranteeing the accuracy of his information, though interpreting it was another matter entirely.

After placing a stack of euros on the table, Liang En and his team left as quickly as possible. After ensuring they weren't being followed, they returned to the hotel and began examining the contents of the envelope.

Inside were several photographs and a note. After sorting through them, Liang En quickly gained a clearer understanding of the situation.

"Our earlier analysis was indeed correct. Those people disposed of the vehicles and weapons they acquired here. This suggests that the forces behind them might not be too powerful."

After reviewing all the information, Liang En began analyzing the situation for Jeanne, focusing first on the specifics of the attackers.

"If they were truly powerful, they would have chosen to destroy those vehicles or weapons completely, leaving no traces behind. Instead, they opted to sell them on the black market."

"Then why not set a trap?" Jeanne asked curiously. "For example, selling those items to a specific place to mislead everyone."

"That method is common in novels or movies, but it's almost impossible in reality," Liang En replied with a smile. "Such tactics often reveal critical information unintentionally if not carefully prepared."

Often, what seems like a clever strategy can appear foolish in practice. For instance, this misleading tactic could backfire if not executed perfectly.

But sometimes, people proceed with actions despite knowing the risks. For example, the decision to sell these vehicles—photographs in the envelope showed images of the modified vehicles, while the note provided an address.

"Should we check out those vehicles that were sold next?" Jeanne asked, tapping her fingers lightly on the table as she looked at the photos.

"I believe there might still be clues left in those vehicles that could help us understand why those people disappeared."

"That's a valid suggestion, but I have a better idea," Liang En said, nodding in approval. "For instance, we could track down the people who sold those vehicles."

"How is that possible?" Jeanne frowned. "Don't forget, the event happened two days ago. How could you be sure of our target?"

"Because they used four vehicles," Liang En said, pulling out one of the photos. "It’s clear they intended to sell three and drive the fourth one back, but the fourth vehicle is quite special."

He placed the photo on the table, and under his guidance, Jeanne quickly noticed the distinctive front end of the vehicle on the edge of the photo.

It was a small off-road vehicle, similar in size to a Suzuki Jimny, but with a rugged appearance.

This was a Force Gurkha, a small off-road vehicle produced in India, borrowing its design from Land Rover, but with its core technology sourced from Mercedes-Benz.

Interestingly, this vehicle wasn’t expensive, costing only seven or eight thousand euros, but due to various reasons, it was only sold in India.

Outside of India, it sold reasonably well in Bangladesh, but it was extremely rare in Pakistan. So, simply by identifying this vehicle, they could quickly track down some information.

As expected, after deploying Golden Dawn’s personnel in the area for reconnaissance, they confirmed the vehicle's owner.

"Our next steps are straightforward," Liang En said, hanging up the phone after receiving the address. "We just need to visit the vehicle owner and see if there are any clues."

After making the decision, Liang En and his team quickly packed up their gear, went downstairs, and got into the car they had prepared earlier, heading out of the city.

"If all goes well, we should arrive at our destination by 3 a.m.," Liang En said, gripping the steering wheel as he looked at the dimly lit road ahead. "Let’s hope everything goes smoothly from here."
