As the light clusters seemed to melt into Uihun's body, Kang Sihyun placed his hand over his chest. Moving his hand toward the heart, he felt the faint heartbeat transmitted through his palm as if it could stop at any moment.
He had awoken a day or two late; he nearly missed the golden time. Sihyun clicked his tongue and also unleashed his own divine power.
Pure divine power flowed from Sihyun’s hand into Uihun’s heart. Sihyun, having flicked off his sweat, closed his eyes to control the divine power from both the divinity imbued in Uihun’s body and the power he had directed into the heart.
The pushed energy moved slowly according to Sihyun's will. He filled the leaking life force of the heart, now turning into the aura of death, with his divine power and wrapped the divine power of the divinity around it, securing his own power in Uihun's heart, and spread the remaining power throughout Uihun's body.
"Uh?"
The students of Class A behind Sihyun, who had been watching his treatment in tense silence, began to speak as Uihun's face, pale enough to be mistaken for a corpse, gradually regained color. They forgot to keep quiet, releasing exclamations and admiration.
The crisis had been averted. On opening his eyes to check, the aura of death that Uihun had been emitting was completely gone.
"Is it over?"
Haeun cautiously approached and asked. Sihyun nodded.
"The crisis is. He won’t be able to get up right away. My divine power needs to fully meld into Mr. Uihun’s body, and he needs time to adapt to it. If it takes long, he might lay here for about a month, but if his recovery goes well and he matches well with my power, he might wake up within a week. I’ve managed to save him from dying, so don’t worry."
Treating just one person wasn’t the end, so Sihyun quickly turned around. What remained were Ruth and Hahyuk.
"Is it okay to treat him right away?"
Seowoo, worried, lightly grabbed Sihyun's wrist. Hamin looked at Sihyun with a tense expression for a moment before bowing his head.
"If it’s tough, do it later. Staying one more day won’t worsen anything here."
Though he spoke casually, his eyes didn't meet properly. Hamin, who didn’t particularly like Hahyuk, still regarded him as a brother. With Hahyuk having been unconscious for days, his concern was apparent in his trembling body.
Needlessly acting tough.
It was clear that he wanted to ask if there was any way to save his brother. It was during this time that Sihyun tried to reassure the worried children.
"Half of him is fine. You’re worrying for nothing."
Armus observed Sihyun and the children with an incredulous look and bluntly spoke the truth.
His calm tone ironically carried credibility. As if asking why worry about someone who is perfectly fine, Sihyun smirked in agreement with the irregular.
"Did you hear? He's fine."
"Really?"
"Armus."
"He's fine."
Since the children wouldn’t believe their own words, they sought help from someone who could view Sihyun’s condition more objectively. Fortunately, the giant irregular cooperated quickly, and the children finally believed that Sihyun was fine.
While it took quite a bit of divine power to treat Uihun, thanks to drawing on the divine power of divinity, the power drained from his own body was less than 20%. With enough left to treat the remaining two, Sihyun approached Ruth and Hahyuk, who were in similar conditions. If he had to choose someone to treat faster, it would be Hahyuk.
Ruth, after all, was a descendant of an executioner.
With a higher capacity for divine power, his recovery speed was also faster, and Sihyun could feel the divine power pooled in his heart. Hahyuk, however, seemed to have barely any left.
But it was still a better situation than Uihun, who had nearly nothing left.
Sihyun pulled up a chair next to Hahyuk. The man lying as if dead looked unfamiliar. Had he ever observed Hahyuk sleeping this closely and for this long?
Usually supporting them from the front or back until the end, it was rare to see his vulnerable side. Sihyun felt a sudden surge of emotion and placed his hand over Hahyuk's heart.
"I know you're stronger than Mr. Uihun, so I'll do it a bit more vigorously."
Unlike Uihun, who was in a critical condition and required delicate work while sweating profusely, Ruth and Hahyuk weren’t in such a state. Even though they were being overwhelmed by
depletion of divine power, they were inherently souls of solid nature. They didn’t get hurt easily, nor did they fall easily.
So, the delicate work needed for Uihun wasn’t necessary.
As bodies with a strong will to live and an insatiable thirst for divine power, just pounding it in would let it be greedily absorbed.
Sihyun, knowing that Hahyuk couldn’t hear, still warned softly and poured all his divine power into his palm. The hand raised over the left chest vibrated with the sheer amount of divine power released at once.
He might suffer a shock if he couldn’t bear it.
But if he could accept it all, he would possess a greater amount of divine power and a more robust body than before.
This was both a trial and a blessing.
Muttering to himself that this wasn’t something he did for just anyone, Sihyun focused on the movement of the divine power he had released.
Soon, the corners of Sihyun's mouth lifted.
Look at that.
Isn't it absorbing without waiting?
As if it had been waiting just for this moment, Hahyuk’s body continuously sucked in Sihyun’s divine power. The copious amount poured out began to disappear into the air, absorbed at a rate ten times faster than it had been by Uihun’s body.
That's right. You're not someone who should be lying down like this.
Gorge yourself and shake it off and get up.
Sihyun willingly unleashed even more divine power, along with the power of divinity, into the greedy soul that desired more. Hahyuk’s face fully regained its vitality. The heartbeat transmitted through his palm was strong and healthy. Sihyun removed his hand only after saving half of his divine power. Even though he had already filled the heart with divine power, Hahyuk’s soul seemed to demand more, greedily snatching the remaining power from Sihyun’s fingertips. Sihyun, not intending to give any more, looked at Hahyuk with an incredulous face.
I told you to take a lot, but not to take it on your own.
He momentarily wore a baffled expression, then laughed weakly, thinking it was very much like Hahyuk. Using about half of his divine power had definitely tired him out.
Before feeling any weaker, he needed to continue the remaining treatments.
Sihyun moved the wheeled chair to the side and quickly shifted to sit beside Ruth. In the meantime, Ruth had gathered a bit more divine power than before examining Hahyuk.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
His heart responded vigorously to the energy of the executioner.
As if urgently asking for divine power, as if wanting to escape this damned depletion of power.
Even though he was unconscious, Ruth's will seemed to be firmly communicated.
Sighing once, Sihyun raised his hand.
Ruth would consume more divine power, so Sihyun prepared to not use the sixth piece of divinity for a while and poured all the remaining divine power from divinity and his body into Ruth.
Flash!
Brighter than ever, the light filled the room. Initially enveloping Ruth, it climbed the walls and spread throughout the room, causing the children to instinctively shut their eyes tightly. They raised their arms to shield their faces, and ten minutes later, they slowly felt the light subside and opened their eyes.
The room, still brighter than usual, revealed three people lying in bed, fully regained in complexion. And among them sat a black-haired boy, catching his breath.
His blue irises completely turned to gold.
"Ha."
As soon as he awoke, Sihyun caught his breath, worn out from exhausting all his divine power, and calmed his pounding heart. Then he squeezed his eyes shut and very slowly, leisurely, lifted his eyelids.
His eyes, which had turned golden, slowly regained their original blue color. Finally back to blue, Sihyun looked around at the children standing in silence, worried.
"...It's over."
His voice was weaker than before. He wanted to speak more forcefully to ease their worries, but that was the best he could manage. Instead, he smiled faintly, signaling that all treatments were done, and the children rushed over to hug Sihyun.
"When will they wake up?"
"Who knows. They should wake up within a week at the latest."
As their condition was better than Uihun’s, they could wake up in as soon as three days or at most within a week. Relieved by his words, the children glanced at Ruth and Hahyuk and then sat down, apparently having been inwardly suffering for a long time.
Sihyun watched them and smiled proudly.
Though it was tough, if he could see this scene again and if he could save them, he was willing to do it several more times.
And that night, Hahyuk and Ruth woke up.
Their recovery was faster than expected.
