Volume 2 - Chapter 26: The Last Lesson I’ll Teach You - Part 2
“Young Master… run quickly…”
The dissipating divine soul left behind only a faint voice before completely dispersing into nothingness, fading into silence.
The blood in the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King’s body seemed to freeze as he stood momentarily stunned.
Hundreds of years of cultivation, under his father’s protection, with extraordinary talent and smooth progress, he had advanced through realms effortlessly!
Born with a physique perfected at the Zhoutian Realm.
Later, he fused his soul, traversed the Spiritual Wandering Realm, and reached the Fifteen Li stage.
It only took ten years!
Among demons, he was hailed as a peerless genius.
He then spent another sixty years advancing to the Heaven and Man Realm.
A hundred years later, he stepped into the Three Immortals Realm.
By the second stage of the Three Immortals Realm, the Unbreakable Realm, he ventured out into the world. Bringing along Jiaobo and Niu Mo, he waged battles across the Liang Province border.
First, he subdued other Three Immortals demons on neighboring mountains, incorporating them under his command.
One by one, he conquered peaks, achieving great renown and radiating ambition!
Finally, a century ago, when he reached the Undying Realm, his gaze turned to Liang Province—a place demons considered untouchable.
His ambition burned. He wanted to conquer, to devour.
After dozens of successful incursions along the border, his confidence swelled. This invasion into Liang Province’s heartland was prompted by external information and his own audacity.
He thought everything would go smoothly, yet now, for the first time, he felt a strange sensation.
The sensation of death. Fear. Trembling!
“Young Master!!”
A thunderous roar came from afar, carrying urgent concern.
The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King snapped back to reality, his pupils constricting. He had actually lost focus!
He looked up and saw the young human Grandmaster charging toward him once again. The long sword in his hand swung out, forming an arc of sword shadows that seemed to open a door made of blades in the darkness.
The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King regained his clarity. Although consumed with rage, he cherished his life more.
He knew that with his talent, he would one day become a Great Demon King, surpassing even his father.
By then, he would have the hope of lightly touching the peak that was now so distant and unreachable.
He couldn’t die!
He couldn’t die here!
With a sudden roar, the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King unleashed his Lionheart Roar Technique, a shockwave of sound that surged outward but barely impacted the arc of sword shadows.
His body shifted from a semi-human form into his complete lion state. From his back unfurled a pair of wings—a power inherited from his mother’s bloodline.
Though the wings were somewhat short, they added to his speed. He now raced toward the city gates at full speed, choosing to flee.
He felt both grief and rage. After battling for centuries, conquering one peak after another, when had he ever been this humiliated?
Li Hao raised an eyebrow slightly, watching the Little Demon King, who had roared angrily moments ago, vowing to kill him, now turn and flee.
He had thought the demon would stubbornly charge at him again.
As expected, demons could not be trusted.
Li Hao paused briefly before pursuing. The Dragon Sky Sword left his hand, propelled by object manipulation, slashing swiftly toward the fleeing demon.
“Die!”
In the distance, Niu Mo let out a deafening roar, breaking through the Three Immortals-level blockade and charging toward Li Hao, unleashing countless needle-like hairs that shot toward the Dragon Sky Sword.
The Dragon Sky Sword’s unmatched sharpness easily cut through the hairs, but the relentless barrage, like pounding rain, slightly affected its momentum.
“Die!”
Niu Mo lunged forward, its momentum like a mountain collapsing. Li Hao felt a sharp surge of energy. Frowning, he recalled the Dragon Sky Sword and unleashed another arc of sword light resembling a vortex.
The vortex-like sword light ground the sharp energy to dust before crashing toward Niu Mo’s head.
With a roar, Niu Mo’s body ignited in crimson flames as he burned his divine soul.
He raised a hoof, stomping fiercely onto the sword light.
But the sword light’s sharpness exceeded his expectations. Even with his unbreakable-level physique, second only to the Little Demon King’s, his hoof was swiftly severed like tofu, offering no resistance.
The severed hoof flew, and the sword light slashed through half his body.
Niu Mo stared in disbelief at the young man before him. This boy was only at the Grandmaster Realm?
His massive body collapsed, but his roar shook the heavens, shattering nearby buildings.
His divine soul detached from his body, burning like a fiery beacon as he unleashed his self-created demonic art, charging like a colossal mountain.
Li Hao raised his sword and struck decisively.
The dragon soul within the Dragon Sky Sword emerged, coiling tightly and biting down on Niu Mo’s divine soul, pinning it to the ground. The sword light descended, extinguishing the demon’s soul.
“Young Master…”
The fallen Niu Mo’s eyes reflected only the sight of the enormous fleeing lion, his voice filled with grief and despair: “Uncle Hei has failed…”
Flames surged as the Dragon Sky Sword’s divine might incinerated and obliterated the demon’s soul.
The Three Immortals-level middle-aged man, who had been fighting Niu Mo, rushed over and froze momentarily at the sight. His expression shifted as he looked at Li Hao.
He naturally knew this young man’s identity but could not comprehend how a fourteen-year-old from the Li family could be so formidable.
Li Hao paid him no attention. Gripping his sword, he charged after the fleeing Myriad Mountains Little Demon King.
Leaving the lion to escape would bring endless troubles.
As Li Hao was about to give chase, the ground began to quake violently.
Li Hao’s expression changed slightly. His divine soul emerged, hovering over Dayue City, and he saw the demonic horde, once a hundred li away, now charging forward.
On the city walls, the Grandmasters who had been discussing earlier had already taken their positions, joining the city guards to prepare for the coming battle.
The Three Immortals cultivator also noticed this, his face darkening as he rushed to the city walls.
The demonic tide included demons at the Three Immortals level. The Grandmasters alone would struggle to hold them back.
Li Hao cast a quick glance at the scene before continuing to pursue the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King. The Dragon Sky Sword flew out of his hand, streaking toward its target.
The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King struck back with a powerful blow, but his attack was shattered by the Dragon Sky Sword. Filled with rage and despair, he didn’t dare to look back. For the first time, he felt that time dragged unbearably. Where was Gao Bo? Why hadn’t he returned yet?
The city gates loomed ahead, and the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King could already see the demonic army outside. As long as he merged with the army, he could hide among them, making it nearly impossible to track him down.
But at that moment, a chilling sense of death swept over him from behind.
The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King turned sharply, only to see the dazzling arc of sword light racing toward him.
His heart filled with terror and disbelief. He was already moving at full speed. How could that young man’s object manipulation speed reach such a level?
With a thunderous crash, the sword light struck. The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King’s head burst apart, brain matter splattering everywhere, and his massive body tumbled forward, crushing buildings and shops along the way.
In the next moment, a beam of divine light escaped from the headless lion’s body, fleeing into the distance at high speed.
The Dragon Sky Sword, like a streak of golden light, chased after the divine light and struck it down, eliciting a sharp scream.
The injured divine soul no longer cared for anything but survival. Burning his own soul, the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King, overcome with panic, clung to one desperate thought: to live.
Though burning his soul boosted his speed significantly, ensuring survival came at the cost of halting his cultivation forever. But at this moment, nothing was more important than staying alive.
Yet, just then, an ethereal strand of sword qi appeared out of nowhere, slicing into his divine soul.
“This… impossible…”
The Myriad Mountains Little Demon King’s consciousness quaked, teetering on the brink of collapse. He couldn’t believe what had just happened. Looking back, he saw the young man far in the distance, and the Dragon Sky Sword was still far from him. This attack should have been outside of its range…
But why had he been struck?
His thoughts dissipated, and his consciousness faded away completely.
When the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King’s divine soul vanished entirely, Li Hao exhaled softly. Moments earlier, unable to catch up, he had resorted to using the Flying Slash technique.
It was undeniable that Flying Slash, when used unexpectedly, was exceptionally effective.
His object manipulation attack range doubled, allowing him to strike from a hundred li away.
...
Li Hao recalled the Dragon Sky Sword and approached the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King’s corpse. Carefully inspecting it, he confirmed that the demon was truly dead and finally felt relieved.
By now, the tremors outside the city grew even stronger, accompanied by the anguished roars of demons.
The demon horde outside had sensed the battle. Witnessing the fall of their prodigious young demon king, even after burning his divine soul, they let out earth-shattering cries of rage.
...
Countless demons echoed the outcry. Despite losing their leader, they did not scatter like a chaotic rabble. Instead, they became even more frenzied.
Li Hao’s gaze flickered. These demons seemed to be a well-trained army rather than a loosely organized group that would crumble upon losing its leader.
“It seems the power of the demons is even more formidable than expected,” Li Hao muttered to himself.
If other demon kings led similarly disciplined armies, as ferocious and relentless as human soldiers, any large-scale battle between the two sides would be unimaginably devastating.
Without delay, Li Hao raised his head. His divine soul emerged and ascended into the sky, scanning the surroundings. Soon, he spotted Shen Yunqing and the White Hall Disciples on a city tower.
At the same time, the demon tide surged closer. On the city’s western and northern gates, demons were already scaling the walls.
Li Hao’s figure blurred as he rushed toward Shen Yunqing and the others.
His gaze swept across the city, noting the devastation left by Three Immortals-level demons in earlier attacks. The City Lord’s Mansion had already collapsed.
For now, however, the powerful demons inside the city had regrouped outside, joining the demonic tide.
Li Hao looked around but did not see Li Wushuang. His gaze shifted to Ren Qianqian, who was still in the debate arena, and he relaxed slightly.
In such a vast battle involving demons, those at the Soul Fusion Realm were little more than cannon fodder. Even Grandmasters could fall within moments.
Whoosh!
Li Hao arrived at Shen Yunqing’s side.
The group was startled at first by his sudden appearance but then sighed in relief, their faces lighting up with joy.
“You actually killed that great demon!”
Shen Yunqing, his divine soul hovering to monitor the surroundings, glanced toward the previous battlefield and saw the corpse of the Myriad Mountains Little Demon King. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of shock.
That was a Three Immortals-level demon, reputedly at the Undying Realm!
The boy before them, merely at the Heaven and Man Realm, had defied expectations and slain a top-tier Three Immortals-level demon!
The other White Hall Disciples, all at the Soul Fusion Realm, had their divine souls hovering as well. Following Shen Yunqing’s gaze, they observed the wreckage of the battlefield outside the debate arena, their faces filled with awe.
“It’s coming,” Li Hao said, his eyes fixed on the approaching demonic tide.
Hearing this, everyone snapped back to reality, their expressions turning grave and tense.
Li Hao stared at the tide for a moment before stepping into the sky outside the city.
Allowing the demonic horde to close in would lead to chaotic slaughter, with countless soldiers and even Shen Yunqing’s group falling. He wouldn’t be able to protect everyone.
Unless he annihilated them in advance.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Li Hao. He paused mid-step, then turned toward the familiar faces on the city tower.
“Li Shi,” Song Yueyao and Zhou Zheng, among others, were stunned to see Li Hao turn back.
“I only taught you two lessons before leaving Qingzhou,” Li Hao said, his grip tightening slightly on the Dragon Sky Sword. Slowly, he continued, “Now, here’s a chance. This will be the last lesson I teach you. Watch carefully.”
Tangong Palace had sent an unparalleled technique across great distances, and he intended to fulfill his promise to its master.
