Chapter 387: Kang Sihyun

The newly dreamed dream began a few centuries after the sealing of Gulra.

The daily life of Sihyun, who became Adam, was generally peaceful. Of course, he had responsibilities as an executioner to capture sinners defined by the world and to administer divine punishment to newly emerged sinners, but aside from those times, it was overall peaceful and leisurely.

It was a long time after the war with Gulra had ended.

The era of sorrow and agony had ended.

Sihyun usually rested under a giant tree so tall that its leaves touched the sky, taking naps there. The shade helped him avoid the sunlight, and occasionally young devotees would appear, begging him to play with them. These were new believers who had somewhat sensed the divine presence and were able to see Sihyun, showing that the world had developed to the point where such devotees could be born.

The world had become more robust and detailed as it continued to alternate between destruction and creation.

It was a collaborative work of God's efforts in creation and his creations.

As the creations turned out splendidly, the world's lifespan increased and its stability improved. Naturally, God's reputation among his creations heightened. They thanked him daily, and their prayers were not enough; they even built temples. Despite the temple being large enough to engulf a forest, Sihyun always preferred to be under the tall tree.

There was no place as tranquil and fresh as there.

Occasionally, when he felt extremely bored, he would visit the temple to pray. Even the son of God had his faith and would pray from time to time.

To complain to a God who was deeply immersed in the world and not looking after him.

“It’s been a year since I last saw Father. Is creating that enjoyable for you? Are you happy just working all the time? I might just perish from boredom. Ah, I feel like I'm going to disappear. I’m getting dizzy…”

In such moments, the flustered God would hurriedly come down to spend time with Sihyun. He showed him the newly created things and asked him what to name something strange that he had never created before. Then, Sihyun would praise the new creation and advised to destroy the bizarre creation.

“Isn’t that too much?”

God often got offended by Sihyun’s straightforward and unembellished feedback, which amused Sihyun, causing him to chuckle, and God would laugh out loud with him.

These were enjoyable times.

Thus, years of peace passed without realizing how time flew by, and occasionally, massive events that could destroy the world occurred.

Usually, when Gulra’s children broke their seals.

The seal that God used to imprison Gulra was solid and flawless, thanks to the creator's mighty power, but the seal Sihyun used for Gulra’s children was not as effective. The executioner, after all, was used to executing rather than managing and maintaining imprisonment.

Thus, the seal was inevitably inadequate. Sihyun routinely captured Gulra’s children as they kept breaking out.

At that time, Sihyun marveled.

The power of Adam in his prime was beyond imagination.

He captured all of Gulra’s children effortlessly and sealed them instantly. The regrettable part was that the seal was fragile.

“It looks like it could break in just a few decades.” Sihyun wished he could repair that seal.

However, Sihyun was simultaneously the ‘Sihyun’ who originally lived in the world and ‘Adam’. While he was acting on the memories of Adam, even if he noticed the fragility of the seal, his body wouldn’t move.

Adam always lived like that.

Mostly alone, quietly.

Fulfilling the executioner’s duties, looking after the world, and occasionally visiting God.

Sihyun felt a loneliness within Adam. It was fitting to describe the life of the sublime son of God as desolate.

It would have been too boring if God wasn't there.

Resting and playing under the forest were fine for a day or two, but when repeated for decades, hundreds of years, it would inevitably become dull.

Did he not have friends?

Well, it made sense. Adam, an entity with such a long life and a transcendental being, would need friends with equivalent power. But after the incident with Eve, God refrained from carelessly granting powers to his creations.

Eventually, Adam was alone, except for God.

Had it been about two hundred years?

Sihyun, as Adam, realized that his powers were gradually weakening over the years. He recalled the last scene he witnessed when he awakened Adam’s memories.

The war with Gulra and the weakened state of Adam.

Then, finally facing extinction.

It wasn’t something that happened overnight. It was a very gradual weakening over a long time.

Sihyun felt this physically, as Adam. Previously, he could capture Gulra’s children in about 10 minutes, but now it took him 30 minutes each. After capturing one, he would be so exhausted

that he had to lie down for at least four days.

As time passed, it took Sihyun, who sensed his upcoming extinction, an hour to capture a single one of Gulra’s escaped children.

Extinction was not far off.

That’s how Adam met his end.

“…My son.”

God stroked Sihyun, who was lying with his head on his knee, with a sorrowful look. Sihyun managed a smile, though his expression seemed about to crumble.

“It’s okay.”

He said this, though his chest tightened painfully. A crushing pain throbbed through his body and strangled his soul. Sihyun struggled to speak and coughed dryly. As the coughing continued without pause, God’s hand trembling as he stroked his head.

“…It’s okay.”

All Sihyun could do was comfort God with those words.

“Didn’t you think it would come eventually?”

Slowly consoling him, God’s eyes became resolute. Sihyun knew this moment was when God decided to reincarnate him to save him.

A few years later, Sihyun sensed his imminent extinction.

Unable to die without doing anything, Sihyun, who had become Adam, gathered all his remaining strength to seal Gulra’s children. Where his power was insufficient, he split his divine tool into seven pieces and used them as a medium for the seal.

Having practiced sealing over hundreds of years, Adam’s seal was now not as frail as before. It was strong enough to last until a couple of worlds had perished and been reborn.

For the first time, Sihyun felt a strong conviction in his seal and smiled.

Relieved to have fulfilled his role until the end.

And fifteen days later, Sihyun had a conversation with God and faced the death he had seen when his memories were awakened.

A death that turned him into a spirit and led to his reincarnation as a human.

It was fortunate it wasn’t extinction. Because he could see you again.

Sihyun thought as he watched God continuously stroke his disintegrating body. I love you, my son. God had said that just before Sihyun died.

If only he could, he would have brightly smiled and said he loved him too. But regrettably, Sihyun had met his end as Adam.

Now it was time to wake from the dream.

This dream had been even longer than the first. It had taken ten days the first time; how many days had it been this time?

It seemed like it had been at least two weeks. Sihyun was anxious about the faces that might greet him weeping as he awoke from the dream.

He had told them it would be a long dream, but what if they were still worried about him. I’m perfectly fine, but what if you are crying again.

Previously, he wondered why they cried, thought they were overly protective, and considered their affection unnecessary.

But having just seen God’s face, he could now understand why they cried so sadly and why they worried so much.

Because they feared he might die.

They, to whom he was precious.

The tone felt a bit embarrassing. Even though he couldn’t speak, Sihyun unnecessarily cleared his throat, worried about his companions remaining in the real world, hoping to return soon.

It was about time to return.

Thinking back to when he had woken from the first dream, now was the exact moment to wake up. Last time, he had naturally awoken from the dream, but why wasn’t it happening this time?

Sihyun tried to force his eyes open, but his body wouldn’t move. His consciousness was still trapped in a dark space.

Was there still something left?

Just as he was speculating, a bright light appeared in the space and pulled Sihyun along. Sihyun’s spirit was helplessly dragged out of the dark space.

And when he regained consciousness, Sihyun was.

“…What, what is this?”

He had become a stranger he had never seen before. Not Adam, not Yoo Sihyun, not even Kang Sihyun, but a completely new person.

Could it be possession?

Sihyun blinked in confusion.

Something seemed wrong.
