Chapter 479: Speculation

"Yes, the National Archives had indeed lost some documents before, and according to the description you gave, the cover of the document seems to be from a batch of overseas archives lost in the 1960s," said a former permanent secretary of the administrative department in the United Kingdom who was now a member of the Golden Dawn. He called Liang En less than half an hour after Liang En had phoned a few acquaintances in the Golden Dawn.

The information provided by the caller was very detailed, even including critical details such as these documents being related to the UK's efforts in Central Europe to hunt down the remnants of the Crispy Guard and seize their hidden treasures.

"Lord Appby, thank you very much for your help," Liang En sincerely expressed his gratitude after hearing the information. "We couldn't obtain this information through Interpol or diplomatic channels on the Greek side."

"They of course wouldn’t have access to this information, at least not officially; our public stance has always been that no documents have ever been lost," Lord Appby remarked. "What I've told you is merely a bit of private gossip, not to be taken seriously."

"Of course, of course, these are just rumors I've heard from somewhere, just clutching at straws when we have no other options," Liang En earnestly said, and then hung up amidst laughter from the other end.

"What did they say?" Officer Burke asked nervously as Liang En returned to the room, for the police were now powerless in this matter, and Liang En’s information was their only hope.

"There wasn't any definite news," Liang En immediately distanced himself from the content of the phone call, then said, "But I did hear some interesting rumors."

"Rumors—rumors can be good too!" Officer Burke was momentarily stunned, then quickly understood what Liang En meant. "Can you share what these rumors were?"

"I heard that back in the day, the British indeed seemed to have lost some documents, particularly ones with red leather covers related to high-ranking officers of the Crispy Guard, like Reinhard Heydrich."

Liang En spoke in a casual tone. "According to legend, after the Cold War began, British spies started a search operation across Europe to uncover the secrets of the Germans from that era. These documents were primarily associated with several Central European countries."

"This urban legend is valuable, at least it points us in a possible direction, especially when we're utterly clueless at the moment," Officer Burke nodded seriously after hearing Liang En’s words.

"Alright, I think I need to discuss this with my colleagues now; perhaps it can spark some new inspiration to help us catch the mastermind behind this."

After speaking, Officer Burke stepped outside to make a phone call to his colleagues and then came back in to casually chat with Liang En. A few minutes later, his phone rang.

Liang En thought Officer Burke would step outside to take the call, but surprisingly, after seeing the caller ID, he answered it right in front of Liang En and turned on the speakerphone.

"Senior Inspector Burke, based on the information you provided earlier, we've found some leads," a young woman’s voice came through the phone.

"Based on the data we gathered from airports, train stations, and international long-distance travel, the person you're looking for took a train to Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, yesterday afternoon."

"I’ve sent the other details to your mobile phone, including all the information we could find about the suspect, hoping it will assist you in your next steps."

"Prague, huh? I got it, thank you for your help, Annie," Burke said earnestly over the phone, then quickly dialed another number.

This call was to his superior, as such cross-border operations required cooperation with the local police to proceed smoothly.

However, his superior advised him not to pursue this approach as it was not entirely reliable and there might be moles or corrupt elements within the criminal organizations.

"Without local police support, the next steps might indeed be challenging," Officer Burke shrugged after hanging up.

"But what my superior said is also true, based on our past failures, we really can’t place too much trust in the police forces in Eastern Europe."

"In this regard, I think I can offer some help, both in terms of manpower and otherwise," Liang En comforted him.

Liang En was particularly proactive for a simple reason: he had spent 12 legend points on a divination earlier, and the divination revealed that following the officer through this process would definitely yield satisfactory results.

Here, one must praise the **Divination (SR)** card. Because of the card, he now had a more accurate judgment on whether to proceed with certain actions.

Although the prediction was somewhat vague due to the relative scarcity of legend points available and the complexity of controlling fate, having some guidance was better than none.

Thus, on that afternoon, a group of five boarded

a plane to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and settled into a dormitory inside the Mucha-themed museum that was still being set up.

For safety reasons, they would conduct their operations covertly from this museum, which was entirely under their control and offered higher security than other places.

Now that the target's identity had been confirmed, the next steps in their operation would be much easier. Officer Burke managed to contact some reliably confirmed policemen to get his message across.

Liang En, through the Golden Dawn, investigated the situation of the Thule Society in the Czech side, trying to figure out what exactly the other party was looking to find.

Gathering information didn’t take much time, so that evening, the group gathered in an unfinished exhibition hall of the museum to discuss their next moves.

"The other party is likely looking for some items left by Heydrich, mainly because in the Guard Squad, Heinrich was the one responsible for the esoteric studies section," Liang En was the first to speak, stating his judgment based on the information collected that day.

"You should know that Heydrich's last position was as the Governor of Bohemia and he was also the deputy commander-in-chief of the Guard Squad and a police general, so I suspect the other party might have hidden some important documents in this country."

"This is also what I wanted to say; after the mysterious death of Interpol President Steinhauser in June 1940, Heydrich succeeded him as the President of Interpol," Officer Burke added.

"And based on the data we've found so far, wherever they go, they tend to collect esoteric materials and set up archives locally. So I also think that part of the data collected might still be here."
