Chapter 444: Going Home

After examining the "Rainforest Survival (R)" card, Liang En turned his attention to the last and most precious card he had obtained this time: "Prophecy (SR)."

Although Liang En initially thought that prophecy might not be as impressive as other SR cards, upon closer inspection, he realized it was an exceptionally useful card.

"Prophecy (SR): For the now-vanished Maya civilization, people's impressions of this civilization in their minds are not extensive.

For most people, besides the pyramids in the rainforest, the most important aspect of this lost civilization is the prophecies of the Maya that have been passed down to the present day.

Although from the current perspective, the real Maya prophecies were merely calendar calculations without involving detailed content such as the destruction of the Earth or the end of the world.

However, due to the influence of many literary works, now many people think of those prophecies when they think of the Maya, which also facilitated the emergence of this prophecy-related card.

Skill Card (Permanent) (Active): By consuming legendary power and performing a series of rituals, the user can learn some unknown information, essentially seeing the future.

The first point when using the card is to perform a corresponding divination ritual. Of course, the ritual itself is not very effective but helps the user gather enough information.

These rituals include but are not limited to tarot cards, pendulums, drawing lots, flipping coins, and shamanistic rituals. The only requirement is that the user must genuinely believe in the divination method.

Moreover, the more people willing to use the chosen divination method, the better, as this helps utilize the information drifting through space and time to enhance the accuracy of the divination.

During the ritual, the user needs to inject legendary points. The more legendary points injected, the more accurate the information received.

The number of legendary points consumed in observing the future is proportional to the secrecy of the event to be divined. The more secretive the content, the harder it is to see through the ritual.

Note: The future divined may not be the true future, as the future can change at any moment due to changes in the present. Users must be aware of this and not invest everything in these uncertain futures."

Unlike the cards Liang En had obtained before, this card's description of usage was much more ambiguous and did not have precise numerical connections between the consumption of points and effects like other cards.

However, upon further thought, Liang En was relieved. After all, the future is ambiguous and constantly changing, so it makes sense that the consumption of legendary points would also be ambiguous and fluctuating. Having fixed consumption in this context would be strange.

The final reminder was also easy to understand. Considering the butterfly effect, even a small change now could cause a significant change in the future, let alone what people might do after seeing the future.

Thus, Liang En naturally would not entrust his fate to this uncertain element, for a true person should control their destiny rather than be controlled by it.

After reviewing all the cards, Liang En quickly sat in the chair at his desk, using the "Rainforest Survival (R)" card to strengthen himself, then took out a coin to predict the weather for tomorrow.

Holding the coin, he activated the "Prophecy (SR)" card, and as he did, Liang En could clearly feel a mystical power being injected into his palm and the coin.

At the same time, he could feel that this power was not permanent, as it was as ephemeral as smoke, seeming to dissipate with each passing second.

After all, this is destiny, like a constantly flowing river. For Liang En to be able to utilize even a little bit already indicated that his skill as a historical explorer was powerful enough.

Even in worlds where true supernatural beings exist, mastering any power related to destiny is extremely difficult, and those who do often achieve great accomplishments as long as they do not fall midway.

For example, a certain deity who considered a restroom as their sanctuary had obtained their first power related to divination after stepping into the supernatural realm.

Although Liang En was merely asking whether it would be sunny or rainy tomorrow, this divination consumed a bit of legendary points and confirmed that it would be a sunny day.

Given that the difficulty of this divination was not high, the input-output ratio suggested that such divinations were not suitable as regular activities.

To give a simple example, if Liang En wanted to predict the next super lotto winning numbers, he might not be able to fill this bottomless pit even by using all his legendary points.

After finishing all this, Liang En went to sleep. The next morning, when he opened the curtains, the bright sunlight poured through the clear glass window, illuminating the windowsill and the desk beneath it, brightening the entire room.

Downstairs, Liang En found that breakfast had already been prepared by Jeanne d'Arc, with even the raw meat for the crows placed in three small dishes on the windowsill.

It must be said that Jeanne was a meticulous and even stubborn person, with enough intelligence and practical skills to make some quite delicious home-cooked meals after some training.

For instance, today's breakfast of bread with jam was quite good. Although it was not as fluffy as the bread sold outside, it was much better than the handiwork of most home cooks.

"We can go out for a horse ride today," Liang En suggested over breakfast, as the weather was indeed perfect for riding in the sunshine.

Since mastering the skills of ancient Persian heavy cavalry and European medieval knights, Liang En had suddenly come to appreciate the joy of riding. Thus, he naturally chose to go for a ride on this sunny day.

For Jeanne, riding also provided emotional solace, so she was indeed willing to visit the previous stable for a good experience during her break.

However, just as they were getting dressed and ready to head to the stables, they unexpectedly noticed a car driving towards the ranch.

It should be noted that the ranch where Liang En and Jeanne were staying was not a significant location, meaning outsiders would not normally come here.

Moreover, the approaching vehicle was a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, a car that should not have appeared in this rural area under any circumstances.

"I think we might not be able to relax at the stables today," Jeanne said instinctively, watching the car approaching from a distance. "I think you have something to take care of again."
