Chapter 126: The Seven Streams - Part 1

The spotlight shone brightly in the center of the conference room, resembling a grand stage for a performance. Under the watchful eyes of many, Lu Zhi, with her trailing gown, stood at the center of the stage. If it weren't for the eight snake tails beneath her dress, she would appear no different from a human, boasting a face that exuded an imposing air, even more beautiful than usual.

Beneath her feet, a circular platform slowly ascended, lifting her into the air. From the crevices between the platform and the ground, bursts of fresh blood erupted, stimulating the nerves of the pollutants present.

Lu Zhi smiled, "This marks the 28th annual meeting of the abattoir, two months earlier than usual. The main purpose is to welcome our new employees. Through this worldwide recruitment, a total of 73 newcomers have joined our large group! Let's offer the warmest applause and blessings to these newly appointed, hardworking, and brave workers!"

As Lu Zhi finished speaking, the audience erupted into cheers. The gorilla sitting in the front row beside Lu Yan excitedly pounded his chest with fists as big as watermelons, emitting loud howls.

"In addition, I'd like to thank the veteran employees for their hard work over the past year. Without you, our abattoir wouldn't have flourished and received orders from around the world."

As her words trailed off, a monkey appeared from somewhere on the ceiling, tossing a handful of minced meat from the basket slung over its shoulder. The butchers below, like hungry fish, stood up one by one, stretching their necks and comically opening their mouths wide to catch the meat.

Their expressions were excited and greedy, the atmosphere fervent.

From this, it was evident that Lu Zhi was much more adept at managing pollutants than Brain Flowers. Even when indulging in meat herself, she didn't forget to feed her underlings. It's no wonder that while the divine realm was annihilated, the abattoir managed to survive to this day.

Lu Yan also stood up, but he didn't remove the black hood on his head. Fortunately, the gorilla in front of him was large enough to conceal his anomaly securely.

Luckily, the celebration only lasted for a few minutes.

Everything quieted down, and Lu Zhi spoke again, her tone filled with righteous indignation, "We, the abattoir, have no conflict with the world. We only aim to sell the best pigs. However, this is not tolerated by humans. Just recently, I received news that a group of Harbingers has entered City X, intending to dismantle our abattoir!"

Lu Yan was slightly surprised, "How does she know?"

In that instant, many thoughts flashed through his mind, such as whether there was a traitor within the headquarters.

Until the next moment, Lu Yan heard the system's reply: [She doesn't know, she's making it up to get the employees to devote themselves.]

Lu Yan: "..."

Lu Zhi's brows furrowed coldly, "This is absolutely unacceptable to me. I took over the abattoir twenty-eight years ago when it was just a hidden pork shop in the suburbs. Now we have become a well-known pollution area in human mouths. The efforts of several generations of employees cannot be ruined by humans like this. They've sent dozens of senior Harbingers, including the notorious Tyrant. But the abattoir will not yield! Tonight at midnight, I will spare no effort to bring these Harbingers sent by the headquarters into our territory."

Lu Zhi clenched her fists, her sharp, long nails cutting through the snake scales on her palms, oozing deep blue blood, "Only by making humans pay the price and feel pain will they become obedient pigs!"

If Brain Flowers represented evolution in thought, then Lu Zhi represented repression in force.

But ultimately, their goals were the same.

Lu Zhi continued, "Although the enemy is formidable, this time we have allies. The owner of the Hound Base has already come with his dogs."

"We will let humans know that their era is over! The future belongs to us! We will establish a great commercial empire! We will defend our right to exist on this land with blood!"

Her speech was powerful, stirring up strong hatred in the hearts of the butchers.

Someone shouted first, "Kill them!"

"Kill them!"

"Kill them!"

The butchers' chants gradually unified, and a satisfied smile finally appeared on Lu Zhi's face.

"I look forward to everyone's performance. Dismissed!"

The abattoir had no staff dormitories to speak of; here, everyone simply broke into a house they fancied. It was quite bandit-like.

However, just like in the outside world, the largest and most comfortable houses were still firmly occupied by the high-pollution-value butchers.

For example, those butchers with storefronts in the Pork Alley lived in the famous villa area of City X.

Everything that happened in the inner world did not have absolutely no effect on the outer world. The higher the pollution value, the greater the impact on the outer world.

Many expensive properties in City X couldn't be sold because of the strong smell of meat.

Although the inner and outer worlds were not interconnected, the thought of living with pollutants in the same room was still somewhat chilling.

Perhaps the bed you slept on day and night once held the body of a slaughtered pig.

The goat butcher was warm-hearted, slapping Lu Yan on the shoulder with a hoof, "Little brother, have you chosen your house? Do you want me to introduce you?"

After speaking, he winked at Lu Yan, "It's nothing much, just slaughter a pig tomorrow and send me the offal, that'll do."

Lu Yan pursed his lips, "I've already chosen."

The goat butcher's expression suddenly became disappointed, "Alright, I'll go home and watch the World Cup. I heard the men's soccer team made it to the finals this year, so I should roast some pork belly to celebrate."

Although Lu Yan didn't care much about sports, he still found it unlikely, so he couldn't help but ask, "Where are you from?"

"The Third District. Why?"

Lu Yan: "Nothing, just asking."

After a friendly farewell, the goat butcher turned and left.

Lu Yan followed the crowd and walked out of the conference hall.

The air outside was still polluted, but it wasn't as suffocating as when a large group of pollutants crowded together.

Those butchers hadn't bathed in years, and the smell coming from them was like a biochemical weapon.

Lu Yan planned to find a house to use as a base and observe the ecology of the inner world in the meantime.

The system said: "Because of the large number of people moving out of City X, fewer and fewer humans enter the inner world at night. It gradually fails to satisfy the butchers' needs. Many butchers have transitioned from being local butchers to traveling butchers."

"But when the butchers wander outside, they are easily taken out by the Harbingers. So, even in the slaughterhouses, there's gradually not enough pigs for the butchers to share, especially since the slaughterhouses have received a large number of orders."

"The Lord of the City is somewhat negligent, even waiting for takeout from the slaughterhouse for meals. Over the years, the pollution value has increased slowly, causing the expansion of the inner world to gradually fall behind the needs of the slaughterhouse. This is also why Lu Zhi has to consider expanding her territory. She hopes that the slaughterhouse can exist not only in the inner world."

Lu Yan walked alone for a while and keenly sensed that someone was following him.
