Chapter 114: The Seven Streams - Part 2

 Lu Yan's pace was fast.

But according to the Lord's plan, this was originally impossible behavior.

Because all along the way, there were hallucinations personally laid down by it. These illusions were the fruit of countless human sufferings in Changjia, enough to drive anyone into mental collapse. Either they would commit suicide in despair, or their mutation levels would exceed 100, turning them into pollutants.

The Lord had seen many resilient warriors, who never gave up hope even in despair, such as the previous Fei Qing. Such souls became particularly delicious after death. But never had there been anyone like Lu Yan, seemingly completely unaffected, always walking on the right path.

He had silver eyes, reflecting a blood moon.

This was a gift from destiny, allowing him to see through illusions.

In Lu Yan's eyes, he could already see brains growing on a slender tree, like perfectly set fruits.

The brain flowers were heavy, bending the branches. The branches supplied red blood to the brains, providing the nutrients needed for their growth.

"With these, the Lord is nurturing secondary brains. The Lord has 108 secondary brains. As long as the main body remains, the secondary brains can grow back from this tree."

As Lu Yan approached, these brain flowers even emitted sounds—

A small brain flower screamed, "Don't eat me!! I'm rotten!"

"Eat the one at the top first, it's the biggest."

The named brain flower was furious: "Brother 73! We have no grudge against each other! Why would you harm me?"

Lu Yan approached the sapling, the brain flowers hanging from the branches swaying like ginseng fruits.

Several ripe brain flowers tried to escape unnoticed, but as they fell to the ground, Lu Yan stomped on them, crushing them into mush.

It was slippery. The touch was strange.

By the time Lu Yan moved his foot, this brain flower had already lost its vitality. The white brain paste still bore the imprint of his shoe sole.

His bloody and violent actions made the other brain flowers on the branches tremble.

"How could you waste food!" the tone of a small brain flower became particularly mournful. "You stomped on Brother 7. It was full of fat and oil in its brain, very delicious."

Although many brains were hanging on this tree, the Lord was not here.

"He has compressed himself to the size of a steamed bun, planning to slip away in the chaos."

"Location?"

In Lu Yan's mind, the blueprint appeared again, along with a blinking red dot.

The intensive use of talents indeed caused Lu Yan to have some adverse reactions.

Lu Yan was hungry.

Not the usual hunger, but a hunger full of longing. It was a primitive, animalistic craving.

He wielded his knife and ran towards the location of the red dot.

This place used to be Changjia's most prosperous commercial center. Although it had been in ruins for decades, the shops on both sides and the spacious streets still bore traces of prosperity.

Rain suddenly poured from the sky. Lu Yan moved through the streets like a ghost in the rainy night.

He stopped at the door of a restaurant. The security door had long been broken, and inside was pitch black, with shattered tiles and overturned tables on the floor.

The fog still lingered, and deep inside came panting like that of a wild beast.

Lu Yan couldn't help but feel a wave of drowsiness, similar to what he had felt at the airport earlier.

The system's tone was mocking: "It's anxious, it's frantic, trying to pull you back into the conscious space, escape while you're dreaming."

"Meeting younger brother is death, being caught by you is death. Waiting to die, dying at the hands of younger brother might be more dignified?"

Lu Yan asked, "Will I see my younger brother again?"

"Haven't you already seen him?"

Lu Yan looked up at the glass in front of him. The glass was slightly dirty, and with the dim light, the scene on it was blurry.

"This is what the Lord sees in your conscious space."

Lu Yan faced the glass, but what he saw was his own back.

The person in the glass slowly turned his head. There was no face, only numerous red tentacles, a huge blood hole on the neck, and meat tendrils poking out from within. The rest was well wrapped in clothes.

Compared to many monsters Lu Yan had seen, his younger brother's appearance was only moderately disgusting.

Yet, just seeing the blurry figure made Lu Yan feel nauseous and want to vomit. Golden fish scales emerged from his arm. Unlike before, this time the fish scales pierced through muscles and skin as if growing out of his body.

Blood snaked down, intense pain emanating from within his eyes. He couldn't bear it, bent over, and leaned against the wall to vomit.

This nausea had nothing to do with what he saw; it was more like a side effect of excessive talent use.

When Lu Yan looked up again, there was no longer the shadow of his younger brother on the glass.

Lu Yan was momentarily dazed: "So, he looks like this?"

"If it weren't for these eyes, you probably couldn't even look at him directly."

The system's tone was inexplicably mocking: "But he turned back, just wanting to take a look at you."
