Even though he had a slight grip that wouldn't betray tension, why did he turn his body? Sihyun asks, wondering. Seowoo, as if gesturing for him to lean forward a bit, tilted his head once and bowed.
"Even if you faint, finish the job to the end. Make sure Mr. Lee Hamin doesn't pull off any unnecessary tricks. Haru hyung, definitely watch over him."
"Hmm?"
"As you said, since I'll do it in front of you."
He said it was okay for him to faint in front of him. After saying that, without giving him a hint about this fainting, Seowoo turned his head. Sihyun, who made a puzzled expression, slightly fainted, and whispered. Only then did he let out a sigh. And then, he made a wink. Understanding that as an answer, Sihyun gestured for Seowoo to go forward again, pushing Seowoo's back as if to say move on. It happened while they were walking silently.
"You don't ask what I read in the notebook."
Suddenly realizing that no one had asked about the notebook, Seohyeok spoke as Haehyeok, who had been walking ahead, kicked away an obstacle while talking.
"You didn't seem like you'd answer even if I asked."
"Ah...."
"If it's important information, you'll tell us on your own. If not, we'll find out. But the cost of choice will be borne by Captain Sihyun. I'm just an assistant."
Sihyun clenched his fist in response to Haehyeok's talk about bearing the consequences of hiding important information. It was chilling to see Haehyeok, who had just killed a researcher, speak nonchalantly.
He seemed to have looked at Sihyun with a smile, as if he had just killed someone.
"You're passing the troublesome thing to me."
"I'm still a student."
Haehyeok laughed softly at the indifferent reply. Hamin turned his head, looked back, and then met eyes with Sihyun.
Every time their eyes met, it seemed like he had something to say, but when Hamin looked at Sihyun, who had widened his eyes in an incomprehensible expression, he sighed and turned his head. Haehyeok called Hamin his little brother. Seeing Hamin's shoulders twitch slightly for a moment, Sihyun narrowed his eyes.
He couldn't understand why Hamin hated his brother but was afraid of him at the same time. It seemed difficult to explain right now why someone would look at his brother as if he were an irresistible person, but he wanted to let him know that there were people who treated his brother like this.
"Is there any more useful information? Shall we pick up the pace?"
Although they searched four more labs, Sihyun didn't have anything in his hands until the end. They obtained important information, but Sihyun thought that searching each lab one by one might have been a loss, so he nodded at Haehyeok's suggestion. They decided to check only suspicious labs and moved on. Seowoo looked back at Sihyun.
"Have you found out where your partner is?"
"There's a lab at the end of the corridor. Probably there."
"Are you sure?"
"It's the deepest place. It's good for hiding something."
Having answered Seowoo and Hamin's questions in order, Sihyun walked and then stopped when he found a door. The others did the same. They couldn't go any further as the corridor was blocked by an iron door. It was a door with no handle, opening only with fingerprint recognition. It was a door like the ones seen in movies.
"It looks tough."
Haehyeok, who lightly tapped the door with his fist, said with a dull sound. This time, without breaking the doorknob like before, he wrote an impression on his face while caressing the door like a lover.
"Why do you open the door so crudely? The system is paralyzed!"
"It was about the first floor."
Due to the situation, Sihyun, who raised his voice unusually, blocked his ears. Haehyeok seemed too relaxed. Behind the broken door, the sound of someone retching could be heard. The sound of tapping several times, ta-dak-ta-dak, seemed to overlap more than once.
"It's here!"
"There's an intruder here!"
A loud voice was heard nearby, and people who seemed to be security guards rushed from the corner. They all were armed with guns. At this rate, they would be surrounded without a chance. Although it was too easy, Sihyun didn't expect to face a crisis like this. Looking at Haehyeok with a gaze that said it's unfair to fail like this, Haehyeok lowered his head to Sihyun's ear and whispered.
"If you don't want to die with them, take another person and leave. I'll handle this here. This is my job."
The soothing voice felt oddly peaceful in the given situation. Glancing briefly at Hahyuk, Sihyun nodded, realizing anew that he was an S-Class. As Hamin, Seowoo, and Sihyun prepared to break through, Hahyuk chuckled.
"I don't have something like that."
"A shield?"
"Yes."
"You're an S-Class."
You'll handle it skillfully, I'm sure.
In a situation where mana conservation was crucial, there was no room to provide a shield even to an S-Class. Ignoring Sihyun's casual response, Hahyuk murmured that he looked forward to the day when he would join Redem, fully prepared to break through with Hamin and Seowoo.
"Are you ready to run if needed?"
"Where to?"
"Anywhere. Just ahead."
As they approached the area where guards, well over thirty, were stationed, the two nodded in agreement. Despite initial concerns, they realized it was an unnecessary worry.
"Intruders, four of them, in Zone A-5."
A man aiming a gun at Sihyun reported to his team via radio. Seeing him signal to surrender and talk, the remaining guards approached Sihyun's group, surrounding them. Sihyun grinned.
"One."
"Why did you come here?"
"Two."
"Did you disable the alarm sensors on the first floor? If you answer willingly-"
"Three! Run!"
With Sihyun's shout, the three rushed towards the guards. Bang! Startled, the guards fired, but the bullets couldn't penetrate Sihyun's shield and fell to the ground. In the meantime, Hamin and Seowoo cleared the way with brute force.
"Mr. Hahyuk, I'll leave it to you!"
With the sound of the shield cracking, Sihyun broke through the guards, grabbing the collars of Hamin and Seowoo. Both of their gazes turned to Sihyun simultaneously.
"When I count to three, jump."
"Where to?"
"Just ahead."
Heading towards the guards with more than thirty, Sihyun nodded as they approached. Worried about pursuit, he added that he would consider the contract if anyone chased them. Hahyuk, witnessing the 17-year-old vanish from his sight, smiled faintly.
"Quite audacious."
Speaking as if he had witnessed a pet's mischief, Hahyuk softly murmured as he pulled a dagger from his pocket. Finally recognizing Hahyuk's face, the guards were horrified as he raised the dagger.
Bang!
The guards, frightened, began shooting. Hahyuk effortlessly evaded them, turning the dagger in his hand. Protecting the three chicks, he smiled when he saw their faces disappearing into the corner.
"They're probably gone. Shall we play like adults?"
Grabbing one of the guards, Hahyuk calmly pacified him and slit his throat. When a guard tried to flee, Hahyuk threw the dagger towards the opposite direction.
"Ugh!"
The man with the dagger in his throat fell. As he convulsed, everyone watched the gruesome scene. The guards' faces drained of color. Seeing the hellish display, Hahyuk casually picked up the dagger and looked at Sihyun's group.
"If I run away, I might have some trouble. It would be unfair to be judged as incompetent, don't you think?"
Saying so with a smile, Hahyuk stood in front of the corner where Sihyun's group had run, looking at the remaining guards. The once quiet research facility was now filled with screams and gunshots.
***
Sihyun, rushing towards Hahyuk, reached the laboratory shown on the blueprint. Like enclosing a dangerous beast, the area in front of the lab was barricaded with sharp wire fences. Looking at it, Sihyun recalled the writing in his notebook.
'As he tried to escape the lab continuously for a day, we had no choice but to barricade the lab and train him until he lost his rebellious spirit.'
Although they called it training, in reality, it was beatings and torture. Remembering this from his journal, Sihyun reached out towards the wire fences with his telekinesis. Copying their forces, he crushed and tore the fences apart, approaching the lab door. It looked much thicker than the one Hahyuk had broken earlier.
Focusing his telekinetic power on the door, with a loud bang, the door crumpled. Following Hahyuk's method, Sihyun, who forcefully opened it, slipped his body through the opening.
Beyond the transparent wall, a boy, shackled, gazed blankly at the ceiling. Around his feet were armed individuals who seemed to have suffered a brutal beating, and researchers in white gowns.
