"I've always been quite curious," Fu Shiwu fidgeted with his seatbelt nervously, trying to chat with Miao Jia, attempting to deepen their friendship. Currently, it seemed that Miao Jia was an indispensable companion, and Fu Shiwu felt it necessary to strengthen their bond.
"How did you manage to gather so much information through this computer and antenna?" Fu Shiwu's curiosity was genuine. Hacking computers was a realm entirely unfamiliar to him.
Miao Jia chuckled, quite pleased with his own talent. Fu Shiwu's question hit a nerve with him.
"It's simple!" Miao Jia excitedly explained, "I just disguise myself as their internal communication signal, then transmit to the satellite. When the satellite redirects, I crack the satellite's operating code en route. This gives me control. With control, I can use it however I want!"
Wen Zhaoming became interested and asked, "How did you know their internal communication signal?"
"That's even simpler," Miao Jia casually said, "The satellite communication signal from that unit was so obvious in the air. I'm not blind. I just copied it on a whim, then accidentally cracked it and made a signal generator."
This was effortless for Miao Jia, but for the other three men not involved in this technical field, it was far from simple. That was encrypted military communication!
Luckily, this guy was in the police academy, training to be a cop. If this were outside, who knew what kind of trouble he could cause.
"How do you manage to get satellite images all along our route? Do we have that many satellites overhead?" Fu Shiwu asked, perplexed.
Even though a satellite could cover a vast area, it didn't guarantee that satellites were constantly positioned over their route.
"We have several military satellites overhead now," Miao Jia said seriously, "Given the chaos happening, the government wants to monitor the situation in each province. These satellites receive orders from the satellite center and move quite fast. They seem to be scanning something. But after these satellites leave, others come into use."
Miao Jia grinned triumphantly, "Other countries' satellites are also in our sky. As long as they're within our territory, I can connect. Like the satellites from R country, Y country, and A country we passed by..."
Tang Xuhai was almost taken aback. This was way beyond just a criminal act; it was pure terrorism!
Wen Zhaoming couldn't find any words to say, either. Weren't those satellites military? Rumor had it they even had laser weapons!
Fu Shiwu, on the other hand, was genuinely impressed, telling Miao Jia, "Impressive!"
Miao Jia was thrilled by Fu Shiwu's praise.
Looking at Miao Jia's overly joyous expression in the rearview mirror, Liu Zhao sighed inwardly. In the current world, even if he indulged in such acts, no one could control it, and ultimately, they'd benefit themselves.
The discussion about satellites and computer technology mainly revolved around Miao Jia explaining while Fu Shiwu earnestly listened, even though most of it was beyond his comprehension.
Though Fu Shiwu couldn't grasp most of it, it thoroughly piqued Miao Jia's interest. He eagerly played the role of an educator, explaining various professional-grade terms to him.
Miao Jia's fingers tapped on the keyboard, occasionally switching satellite targets.
"Currently, there's a meteorological satellite above us!" Miao Jia said, continuing to search for information images inside. However, it seemed the meteorological bureau wasn't working much at this moment, providing little for Miao Jia.
He glanced unsurely and said, "In these days, we should expect continuous rainfall here, and the temperature will drop significantly."
"Drop in temperature?" Fu Shiwu was surprised.
"Yeah, about a decrease of 7 or 8 degrees," Miao Jia nodded, "That's what the data shows."
Fu Shiwu, wearing a short-sleeved shirt, found a 7-8 degree drop acceptable. But at that moment, Tang Xuhai said, "If we get a chance, let's gather some autumn and winter clothes."
Considering it for a moment, although it seemed premature, Fu Shiwu agreed, "Yeah, by the time we get to the military area, they might not be available."
"Right. So, the next target is a small town or a county," Tang Xuhai said calmly.
"Would going to the county be too risky?" Wen Zhaoming pondered.
"It's fine. The closest one is Yaoshan Town, not too big. According to satellite images, it seems safe," Miao Jia stated nonchalantly.
"Safe?" Fu Shiwu's eyes dimmed. In other words, no anomalies. If there were no anomalies mentioned in a city during these times, it likely meant humanity there had perished.
"Not having anomalies doesn't guarantee safety," Fu Shiwu said quietly. "There might be esper plants or animals."
Miao Jia chuckled dryly, "It can't be that unlucky, can it?"
According to previous data, there were few esper animals in H province. Encountering an esper giant cow was already incredibly rare.
Wen Zhaoming spoke solemnly, "It's better not to rely on luck."
"Shiwu, could you take another look before we enter the town?" Tang Xuhai asked.
"Look at what?" Fu Shiwu didn't understand, then realized, "You mean using my unique ability?"
"Yeah," Tang Xuhai nodded.
"But my perception range isn't that large. The town is a bit beyond my range," Fu Shiwu said with difficulty. "I'll try my best though."
"Okay!" Tang Xuhai praised him with a smile.
All eleven people got out of the car once they arrived at the outskirts of Yaoshan Town.
"What are we doing?" Ma Dong whispered to Liu Zhao.
"Don't know," Liu Zhao shook his head.
Horn Ting frowned, watching Fu Shiwu's figure. Fu Shiwu stood still while Tang Xuhai and Wen Zhaoming guarded him.
Miao Jia curiously eyed Fu Shiwu. He only knew that Fu Shiwu was excellent with a gun. Why was he standing there motionless, staring blankly ahead?
Suddenly, Fu Shiwu took a step forward, making Tang Xuhai tense. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I felt there was nothing abnormal within my range. I want to look further ahead," Fu Shiwu turned and said.
Everything now appeared as black-and-white three-dimensional images in his mind. Anything visible to his eyes vanished into blurriness, somewhat different from blindness. He could even feel a pebble on the ground.
Wen Zhaoming worriedly advised, "Be careful."
"Yeah, I want to try expanding my range," Fu Shiwu clenched his fists, taking a couple more steps. He raised his head, closed his eyes, and strained to expand the imagery in his mind.
Originally, only the visual range in front of him slowly expanded with his effort: one meter, two meters, three meters...
When he expanded it to about thirty to forty meters, Fu Shiwu was hit by a wave
of dizziness. He swayed, and Tang Xuhai immediately stepped forward, grabbing his shoulder.
As the dizziness faded away like a receding tide, Fu Shiwu opened his eyes, looking blankly at Tang Xuhai's face appearing gradually in his line of sight.
Tang Xuhai furrowed his brows, slightly annoyed, "Even if you want to expand, do it gradually! Are you trying to exhaust yourself all at once and end up dead?"
Tang Xuhai knew his character well—stubbornly dedicated. When he said he wanted to expand, he meant the entire town's area!
Fu Shiwu was a relentless hard worker. If it weren't for the apocalypse, he'd probably only have one way to die—death by overexertion!
Fu Shiwu felt remorse and guilt hearing Tang Xuhai's scolding. He meekly apologized, "Sorry."
Tang Xuhai was exasperated; this wasn't the first time Fu Shiwu had earnestly overexerted himself.
Sighing, Tang Xuhai said, "Even if you want to expand, take a break. You were already exhausted this morning. Don't make us worry so much, okay?!"
"Okay," Fu Shiwu felt genuinely guilty. He had never experienced being a cause for such concern before, and it made him uncomfortable. "I just wanted to scan the entire town to ensure there were no safety risks. It'd make finding things easier and prevent anyone from getting hurt unexpectedly."
Seeing Fu Shiwu's apparent discomfort, Tang Xuhai decided not to reprimand him further.
He softened his tone and asked, "How much did you see?"
"About half of the area," Fu Shiwu replied.
Tang Xuhai was stunned.
Though the town wasn't large, with two streets and a road, it still covered several square kilometers. And Fu Shiwu claimed he could scan half of it in one go?
"You can perceive such a vast area now?" Tang Xuhai's tone was filled with incredulity.
"Actually, earlier in the morning, while on the mountaintop, I could accurately sense the road below," Fu Shiwu said apologetically.
That area wasn't much smaller than half the town's area! Tang Xuhai internally yelled.
Struggling to swallow, a familiar term popped into his mind: monster!
He felt like he had discovered something extraordinary. Could using one's abilities to their limits be the way to enhance them?!
Tang Xuhai was astounded by what he realized and was momentarily speechless.
Still holding Fu Shiwu's shoulder, much taller than him, Tang Xuhai felt awkward. Shouldn't he let go now?
