Wang Ziping had no intention of abandoning Tang Xuhai, a person with such high martial prowess, even if he hadn't managed to get Tang Xuhai into his car.

He drove with his family, knowing that the chances of survival were higher in a group than braving the unknown alone. Wang Ziping explained to Liao Ke that he had observed families with strong, able-bodied members, mentioning a military camp in the eastern suburbs. Given the threat of extraterrestrial creatures, many were inclined to seek refuge with the military.

Some of Wang Ziping's group drove ahead of Tang Xuhai, while others trailed behind, aiming to form a protective circle around Tang Xuhai.

Tang Xuhai was aware of these vehicles, but while he hadn't actively shaken them off, he wasn't keen on being used, specifically by Wang Ziping.

However, Wang Ziping hadn't considered that while the chances of encountering extraterrestrial beings alone were low, in a group, it became almost inevitable!

Their large group and visible objective made them an easy target.

An extraterrestrial with flailing tentacles leaped from a high building by the roadside, crashing onto the roof of the foremost vehicle!

The driver was terrified and instinctively slammed on the brakes.

Stopping, however, risked getting surrounded. Tang Xuhai swiftly maneuvered, avoiding the trapped vehicle's side, but the car behind him wasn't as fortunate, crashing into the first car's rear.

The impact might have thrown off a human standing on the roof, but this alien, with its tentacle-like limbs, firmly anchored itself, possibly with suckers or hooks.

Doors flew open, and occupants from both cars panicked and ran. Another extraterrestrial emerged from a nearby alley, lunging into the crowd, swiftly wrapping its long appendages around a person's neck.

"Help me!!!" The person's plea went unanswered, as their car only had an iron hook, which, in their panic, remained unused.

Helpless and horrified, the companion watched as the extraterrestrial pierced the person's skull and turned towards them.

The agile extraterrestrials, with their tentacles, moved swiftly among the towering buildings and cluttered streets, resembling apes in the jungle.

Wang Ziping floored the gas pedal, noticing another extraterrestrial catching up from behind. He made a split-second decision, veering aside and crashing the pursuing car.

The following driver, eyes wide with terror, had no clue about the extraterrestrial catching up from behind. In desperation, they swerved sharply, hitting the median. With a few quick steps, the extraterrestrial latched onto the shattered window and slithered in.

Amidst the terrified screams behind, Wang Ziping, maintaining a stern expression, instructed his family, "Hold on tight."

Tang Xuhai, composed and focused, dealt with the situation. When the leading car collided with the median, he had to brake, slowing down. The cars beside him fled, prompting Tang Xuhai to change lanes.

Fu Shiwu clutched the window handle tightly, feeling his heart leap to his throat. The horrifying scene left him speechless.

Observing Tang Xuhai's transformation from his usual carefree demeanor to a serious, sharp-focused individual, Fu Shiwu saw him skillfully maneuver the steering wheel, shifting gears now and then.

Acknowledging his own lack of skill, Fu Shiwu admitted that he might have also braked reflexively if he were driving the first car.

The area grew chaotic, more extraterrestrials converging. The one that had infiltrated their car crawled out from the rear window, preparing to leap towards them.

Thinking quickly, Tang Xuhai hit the gas, ramming into the obstructing car's rear. The airborne extraterrestrial was thrown back by the force.

Tang Xuhai clenched his lips, forcefully opening the car.

Peering inside, Fu Shiwu saw the occupants in that car were beyond help.

Gripping the handle tightly with one hand and holding onto the seatbelt with the other, Fu Shiwu watched as Tang Xuhai maneuvered aggressively, attempting to shake off the extraterrestrial climbing from behind.

"What do we do? It's climbing up!" Fu Shiwu nervously glanced backward, voicing his concern.

Tang Xuhai glanced at the rearview mirror, recognizing it as the same one he had thrown out earlier. Despite the extraterrestrial being flung away, its tentacles, resiliently, hooked onto the car's rear again.

"Damn it, it's persistent!" Tang Xuhai cursed. Typically, any other creature would have been dragged to death at such speeds, yet this one persisted.

The extraterrestrial pounded the car roof, but the SUV's robust build, although contorted, showed no signs of breaking.

"What do we do?!" Fu Shiwu, in panic, stared at the deepening dent on the roof, speaking incoherently.

"Stop yelling!" Tang Xuhai frowned, at least attempting to get out of this neighborhood.

The car turned onto a main road lined with tall buildings. Tang Xuhai headed towards a parking lot behind the tall buildings.

"Where are you going?" Fu Shiwu asked.

"Find a clear space. I don't want to be surrounded by unknown things." Tang Xuhai looked at the tentacle hanging down outside the car window, its hooked end sending chills down his spine.

"Fu Shiwu!" he called out.

"What?" Fu Shiwu stared tensely at the car roof.

"I thought you were good at driving steadily?" Tang Xuhai reached out, grabbing Fu Shiwu's chin to make him face him. "I'll jump out to lure that monster away. You take over the steering wheel. When I signal, hit the brakes. Got it?"

"What?!" Fu Shiwu stared, startled.

He understood the plan, but the difficulty level was too high. He feared he couldn't do it!

"Grab on!" Tang Xuhai seized his hand, pressing it onto the wheel. Then, opening the car door, he faced the tentacle outside. With a military knife, he slashed at it.

"Squeak—" The extraterrestrial emitted an ear-piercing, torn-sounding cry as one of its tentacles was severed!

Tang Xuhai took the opportunity to jump out of the car.

Though the speed wasn't high, he rolled on the ground to dissipate the impact.

"Tang Xuhai!!!" Fu Shiwu screamed; he hadn't unfastened his seatbelt! Why jump?!

Fu Shiwu was on the verge of tears. One hand clutched the wheel while the other hastily undid the seatbelt. Fortunately, Wen Zhaoming quickly leaned over to help, avoiding the cliché of the seatbelt being stuck during crucial moments.

With Wen Zhaoming's assistance, Fu Shiwu managed to climb into the driver's seat, slowly pressing the brakes. He didn't stop but turned back.

As dusk settled, Fu Shiwu turned on the headlights to illuminate Tang Xuhai.

This parking lot served the upscale business buildings along the main road. Usually busy, it now remained almost empty due to recent celestial events, with only a few sporadic cars.

This emptiness allowed Tang Xuhai ample space. He had lured the extraterrestrial's wrath away. The extraterrestrial despised the human who had severed its tentacle.

Another tentacle lunged at him.

The extraterrestrial's advantage lay in its incredibly fast movements, often too swift for ordinary people to react. Yet, for someone like Tang Xuhai, trained rigorously, these speeds were manageable.

He had to evade. The hooked part of the tentacle grazed him, ripping off a chunk of flesh. Fighting extraterrestrials was not a pleasant experience.

The tentacle swiped at his chest. Tang Xuhai leaned back, dodging it, then swiftly thrust his military knife towards the extraterrestrial.

The extraterrestrial dodged, emitting chilling screams, visibly agitated.

Getting closer, Tang Xuhai noticed the hooked part was only at the tip of the tentacle. This discovery gave him an idea.

Pretending to attack, Tang Xuhai severed the extraterrestrial's left forelimb. Already wounded, the extraterrestrial, sensitive to pain, defensively protected its left side. Seizing this chance, Tang Xuhai grabbed the extraterrestrial's right rear limb, twisted, and threw it over his shoulder. Following up, he thrust the knife into the extraterrestrial's forehead.

Fu Shiwu approached slowly in the car. Tang Xuhai had swiftly dealt with the extraterrestrial.

Tang Xuhai pulled out the knife, and the extraterrestrial's blood gushed out. The tense excitement subsided; Tang Xuhai gradually received signals from his body.

He swayed and almost lost balance.

Fu Shiwu pushed open the door and hurried to support him.

"How are you? Any injuries?" Fu Shiwu asked cautiously.

"I'm fine, not badly hurt," Tang Xuhai waved his hand, rejecting help.

Tang Xuhai paused before heading towards the SUV.

"Hurry, we can't delay any longer."

Fu Shiwu noticed Tang Xuhai's leg injury and realized the difference: "Your leg, what happened?"

"It's nothing!" Tang Xuhai's tone turned stern. "You drive. Let's go first, we'll talk later if needed!"

Fu Shiwu stopped arguing. He wouldn't let himself drive unless Tang Xuhai's leg was okay.

Only after Fu Shiwu sat in the car did Tang Xuhai slowly get in. His left side went in first, and his right leg was almost dragged up.

"What's wrong with your leg?" Fu Shiwu started the engine, turned to him with a stern look, hinting that he wouldn't start the car until he got an answer.

Tang Xuhai felt both annoyed and helpless. "It's nothing. I might have twisted it when I jumped earlier."

Fu Shiwu nodded and started driving, oblivious to the fact that his gaze had seemingly conveyed the wrong meaning once again.

Pity, Fu Shiwu had only shown concern in his eyes a moment ago.
